First created for Count Camillo Negroni in 1920 at Florence’s Café Casoni, the Negroni is predated by the Americano, a mix of bitter, barky Campari and sweet vermouth, topped with soda. When the Count asked for something stronger, the soda water was replaced with gin, and the Negroni was born.
